The winners of the Eldoret City Marathon 4th Edition (2022) were awarded their winnings on 10th March 2023 at the County Government of Uasin Gishu headquarters. The ceremony was presided over by the Governor of Uasin Gishu County H.E. Hon. Jonathan Bii Chelilim. A total of 18 Million in prize money was awarded to the top 20 finishers in both the women's and men's 42.195KM races. The Governor hailed the marathon for not only organizing the largest prize money purse for winners in Africa but also planting and/or distributing over 4 million trees since its inception in 2018. Other speakers at the event included Orlando Syomu, the Group CEO for the Standard Group, who promised to continue supporting and partnering with the marathon as the official media partner. Moses Tanui, the race's director, opined that the marathon was started to give an opportunity to the large pool of talented local athletes to participate in, and win, a marathon that would not only pay them well but also potentially open doors for them to participate in international events. He reemphasized the organizers' commitment to build and grow the marathon to outlive them and build a legacy as rich as the leading marathons in the world, such as the Boston Marathon that is over a century old.
