Mercy Kipchumba wins the women's race with a time of 2:28:10. 

The Governor of Uasin Gishu County H.E. Hon. Jackson Arap Mandago has completed the 5KM Fun race. 

A record number of athletes registered for this year's edition. It is the most competitive field in both the men's and women's races since the inception of Eldoret City Maratho

A total of 56 sponsors came on board to support this edition. 

This is also the first race since Eldoret City Marathon was included as an Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group Qualifier

Today's race has seen the introduction of an electronic timing system that will allow the time posted by the athletes to be recognized by World Athletics.

Winners will walk away with KES 3.5 Million. The top 20 finishers in both the men's and women's 42.195KM race will be awarded a total of KES 18M. 

Eldoret City Marathon is the highest paying marathon in Africa

Notable athletes in the men's race include Paul Lonyangata, Albert Korir, and Erick Monyenye

Other than Valary Aiyabei, other formidable participants in the women's race include Vivian Kiplagat, Purity Changwony, and Janet Rono

Unlike Valary Aiyabei who has a sizeable lead on the chasing pack, no one has yet to break away in the men's race
